FORT McMURRAY, ALBERTA, SEPTEMBER 2013 – The curtain has come down on another successful edition of the Oil Sands Trade Show & Conference (OSTS). On September 10-11, 2013, the oilsands community gathered in Fort McMurray, Alberta for the 28th annual edition of the industry’s most important occasion.
With over 5000 registered attendees, 400 exhibitors, and 100,000 square feet of exhibit space, the OSTS is the premier event for producers and operators to get to know the technology, services, and products available to the oilsands industry. The exhibition, conference, and special events focus entirely on networking, collaboration, education and deal making.
With the major producers in attendance — Suncor, Syncrude, Shell Albian Sands, and CNRL to name a few — the OSTS is the place to be when it comes to building brand presence and gaining market share.
With the planned introduction of their HYDRA Heating Solution, Aggreko proudly entered this year’s event with their most ambitious tradeshow display, to date. It was “Fight Night” and Aggreko delivered a boxing ring, fight-banners/flags, and booth-staff dressed as boxing referees to the trade show floor — all in an effort to set the stage for a serious Battle Royale.
The combatants? Aggreko’s HYDRA (indirect hydronic) Heating Solution vs. the more traditional ‘indirect-air’ heating technology. After the final bell, the HYDRA had won the bout, hands down.
On top of vastly reducing servicing times, downtime, and cutting CO2 emissions by 40%, Aggreko showed how their HYDRA Heating Solution can save their clients over $500,000 on a single winterization project… WOW, talk about a compelling argument!
In addition to an exciting trade show display that built ICS’ brand presence with uber-visibility (Aggreko was invited onto a local radio station because of their eye-catching exhibit..!), they also made noteworthy inroads with new, qualified contacts from some of the major producers in the region – a task that is, often, easier said than done in Fort McMurray.
The interesting topic of ‘carbon credits’ was also discussed at the show between Aggreko and some key industry players. Looking ahead, whether Aggreko assists clients in collecting carbon credits for their own organization or, if they help customers realize a monetary gain through the sale of their own carbon credits, remains to be seen… but if it’s a “win-win” for Aggreko and their customers, they will be there.
Finally, Aggreko showcased their Water Temperature Control solution for SAGD (steam assisted gravity drainage) Well Cementing operations. One of the most technically challenging processes in the Oil & Gas industry, the Aggreko solution delivers exact water temperatures at a moment’s notice – offering unsurpassed finished product quality and supreme peace-of-mind. With an ever-growing number if SAGD installations in Alberta and beyond, there’s real potential for this new Aggreko solution.
Aggreko is excited at the prospects uncovered at this year’s OSTS. They look forward to continued growth of their business relationships and the opportunity to carve a bigger niche for Aggreko in Fort McMurray. See you at the 2014 edition of the Oil Sands Trade Show & Conference!
